  • WisePati~ you hit the nail on the head!! As a foster parent I'm saddened not only by the outrageous number of kids in need, but also by the seemingly underwhelming support the foster system has from the Pro-Lifers.

  • Absolutely agree with you!! There is no "lesson" to be learned by those that have children who are not prepared (mentally/financially/etc) to take on the full responsibility of raising a child, which is why child welfare services all over the country are completely overwhelmed.

  • IP~ thank you for posting some clarification about this area. We live here as well and my husband and his friends have surfed this beach for years and will continue to do so. It is a way of life. The beaches here are not known for shark attacks or even regular shark sightings.

  • Gade12 - You must not have read any of the stories regarding this young man or watched the piece on Today. He DID change lives. He was a lifeguard who saved a young boy. I'd say that qualifies as making a HUGE difference in someone's life.

  • It is definitely open to the public (unless its during the snowy plover nesting season) and there are surfers out there regularly, my husband being one of them.  Our sincerest condolences to this kid's family and friends~

  • If you haven't had a chance to check out what Fresh & Easy has to offer, you should! One opened in our town last year and we now shop there almost exclusively. Although it is half the size of a Vons or Albertsons, it has plenty to offer and their prices are hard to beat.
